responsibility 1

I am a believer in the United States Constitution. I also am a staunch supporter of the Bill of Rights. I do not stop at the concept of rights but feel that the Bill of Rights is a Bill of Responsibilities. The First Amendment says, "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for the redress of grievances."
This says that religion is not the responsibility of government but the peoples. It also prohibits the free speech from hindrance though the supreme court did put limitations for the sake of public safety on this. Assembly and petitioning the government are also protected. these things are not to be abridged by the government so the responsibility of them fall to the people.
The Government can not tell people what religious convictions to have therefore each citizen must take responsibility and know what it is that they believe in. because if they do not know what they believe in, whether or not any one else might share such a belief or not, they have no compass by which to decide whether the government or any one else is right or wrong and will find it more difficult to make informed decisions about the world around them.
The freedom to say what is on ones mind in speech or in the press shall not be abridged but by he same token it is the responsibility of each person to be able to speak intelligently. For though a person can say what they please no on is required to listen to everything that is said. This means that if some one wants to be heard they have the responsibility to say something intelligent. This by implies that the citizens of this country are expected to stay informed of what is going on in the world around them. Informed people make informed decisions and can therefore carry on an intelligent conversation, which intern increases the chances of some one being willing to here what they have to say.
The people of this country also have the right to peaceably assemble which says they have the responsibility to not be trouble makers or hang around those who incite non-peacable activities in group settings. Lynch mobs and riots are unconstitutional and inciting them is a violation of someone else right to peaceful Assembly.
The right to petition the government for the redress of grievances like speech implies an informed person. First the person or people with the grievance must understand the capabilities and limitations the those the grievance is being addressed to. Secondly they must understand what a legitimate grievance is. It must also be understood which part of government should hear what grievance.
Regardless of which part of this amendment some one looks at there is a responsibility which applies to each citizen.
